From Nowhere, A Horse
A commission from The Rooms, the provincial art gallery for the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. A soundscape to accompany an exhibit by artist Rae Perlin.
Perlin was a Newfoundland artist who spent much of her life abroad, first in New York City, then in France and England. Training as an artist under Hans Hofmann and others. The sound piece is meant to underscore Perlin's sketches and to give texture and additional meaning to her life both abroad and in Newfoundland. Edited for stereo speakers in the gallery, it plays with space, surprise, the passage of time, and place.
